The XR4i's performance would seem to have made it an obvious choice for the marked traffic patrol car role but in fact the Devon and Cornwall force was the only one in the UK to utilize them in this way and they ran just four examples. The car modelled was featured on the first ever opening titles for a then new BBC TV show called 'Crimewatch UK' on 7th June 1984. That original title sequence was used for some years on both 'Crimewatch UK' and 'Crimewatch Update', giving the XR4i Police car a higher public profile than it actually warranted. Vital Statistics:
