Originally introduced in September 1962 as a 1.2-litre 49bhp, two or four-door saloon, the Cortina was the most thoroughly developed and cost controlled car of its era.
It’s lightness meant fuel efficiency, sparkling performance, nimble handling, better braking and low construction costs.
The Super, modelled here, appeared within months of the Cortina’s launch offering more luxurious trim and equipment as well as a more powerful engine.
